When are the application materials due?

Applications for the Internship program must be postmarked by March 6, 2009. Only complete applications will be considered.

What will I be responsible for doing during this Internship?

If you're accepted for this Internship, you'll be assisting with our Day and Resident camp programs for campers in pre-K through 12th grade. You will assist Counselors with preparing the class materials, registering campers, teaching classes, and assisting with daily operations. If you're selected to teach any of our Resident Camp programs, you would be responsible for all the above duties as well as assisting Counselors with off-site programs for campers in grades 5th - 12th. During these programs, the staff is required to stay with the campers for the duration of their camp.

What other shifts will I be scheduled for other than teaching camps?

These shifts are scheduled alternately between weeks of teaching camps. Airport shirts - varied hours, scheduled primarily on Mondays and Saturdays, responsible for escorting campers safely to and from Orlando International Airport. Sleepover shifts - varied hours, primarily scheduled on Mondays and Fridays, responsible for sleeping overnight at SeaWorld with our Resident campers. Runner shifts - varied hours, scheduled any day of the week including weekends, responsible for assisting with daily operational duties such as managing lunches, delivering supplies and other duties as required by Camp Management.

When/how will I be contacted?

Successful applicants will be contacted for a phone interview. All applicants should be notified of our intent by the beginning of April.

Can I receive college credit?

To inquire about receiving college credit, please check with your faculty advisor at your school prior to your arrival.

Does SeaWorld provide housing?

SeaWorld does not provide housing. All Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation. Upon selection for the Internship program, a confirmation packet will be sent to you and will include helpful information such as ways to find housing and a contact list to help find housing with fellow Interns.

Is this a paid Internship?

Yes. Unlike most educational based Internships, this Internship is paid. Pay will be based on your level of education.

What are the normal working hours for this Internship?

The number of hours worked per week will vary depending on the needs of the camp. Traditionally, the Day Camp Interns will be working an average of 20-40 hours per week. These hours may include weekend, evening, early morning and even overnight shifts (additional hours may be required). Because of the nature of the Resident camps, the staff is required to stay with the campers for the entire duration of their camp.

How long is the Internship?

This Internship program begins on Monday, May 25, 2009 and ends on Saturday, August 8, 2009. The first 2 weeks include training on animal information and camp operations. Applicants must be available for the duration of the Internship.
